Simmal operates as the sole aluminium stockholder in the UK equipped with in-house CNC machining and aluminium fabrication capabilities. To meet customer demands, Simmal expanded its operations with a wide array of CNC machines at its second facility in Preston.
Aluminium CNC Machining
The company provides both 5-axis and 4-axis CNC aluminium machining, enabling the production of small, short components as well as longer, larger parts. Simmal manufactures parts up to 8 metres with an accuracy of ±0.01mm.
Precision Cutting
Using PLC-controlled automatic saws, Simmal cuts extrusion lengths ranging from 5mm to 8000mm with accuracies greater than ±0.04mm.
Inspection & Metrology
Understanding the importance of measurement in manufacturing, Simmal has invested significantly over the past two years in online CNC part probing and portable CMM inspection arms. This ensures that the parts produced meet customer drawings and specifications to an accuracy of ±0.01mm. Data reports from all measuring equipment are provided as part of the customers’ ISIR and PPAP documentation.
Build-to-Print Manufacturing
Once Simmal's engineers complete the development of extruded components with customers, all production parts and components are manufactured according to the final customer drawings. With years of experience, Simmal has developed robust and intuitive systems to handle a vast number of parts across various market segments, ensuring consistent quality expected from an ISO9001:2010 manufacturer.
Material Traceability
Simmal ensures full traceability of all components from billet/plate cast to delivered packaged goods, which serves as a requirement for approvals in the Nuclear, Automotive, and Rail industries. Recent investments enable Simmal to provide unique part numbers, serial batch numbers, part IDs, and logos either dot peened or laser etched onto individual parts.
Assembly & Packing
Simmal offers portable kitting and assembly cells tailored to bespoke requirements. The company utilises a Rivnut Pneumatic Thread Insert Machine, a Helicoil PLC Controlled Thread Insert Machine, individual heat-sealed plastic bagging, and shrink wrap protected pallets and packs.
